Sahaj Marg and Hindu Nationalism

Translation of an article by Alexis: "Sahaj Marg et Nationalisme Hindou", on Élodie's blog in Europe: Pour Que Vive Le Sahaj Marg.

Sahaj Marg and Hindu Nationalism

Forced Conversions to Hinduism

Appeasement for (the sake of) "living together"?  Yes, Surely … But Beware!   Here is what I observed "below the elbow" (up the sleeve?), after Chari's death.  This warrants some explanation from the SRCM ...

Where Sahaj Marg Mixes With Nationalistic Movements

When we find the SRCM associated with Hindu nationalist organizations and  encouraging religious conversions (Ghar Vapsi)

P.M. Modi upset or not, VHP and RSS are in no mood to stop ghar vapsi
In The News Minute  December 22, 2014 - 3.00 pm IST

Excerpts:

"(...) 'We successfully brought back 40 Christians and 10 Muslims to Hinduism over the past Few Days'.

(...) Rakesh [VHP's Ernakulam district, Kerala] said that the VHP [Vishwa Hindu Parishad] is coordinating with Arya Samaj, Sree Ram Chandra Mission [underlined by Alexis] Ayyappa Seva Sangham and Hindu Mission for help. He said that these are the organizations which have been entrusted  with the task of re-conversions

(...). "

Is the Indian nationalist right blowing on  (fanning the flames of?) the sectarian embers? In December 2014, several cases of forced conversions, real or fantasized, have agitate the media and the politicians in India, on the basis of the strengthening of the nationalist right, after the electoral success of the BJP in the spring. Christians and Muslims are the targets.

Who is the Shri Ram Chandra Mission associated with here?

 - Vishwa Hindu Parishad: an extremist Hindu militant group sometimes ultra-violent, whose Hindu nationalist influences reaches to the Hindu diaspora.
 - Arya Samaj (noble society): another Hindu nationalist organization, created in 1875 to reform Hinduism, in response to the spread of Islam and Christian proselytism.
 - Ayyappa Seva Sangham & Hindu Mission: still and again Hindu groups

What then, has SRCM, theoretically a spiritual movement without borders and/or trans-religious, to do in this affair?  Would there be in Sahaj Marg,  a Hindu nationalist dimension that would have eluded us?

A closer look at Whispers (From the Brighter World)  reminds us of the idea of the Apocalypse and the supremacy of India?

«So many upheavals will occur on Earth, India will be preserved; that is the divine will. »

I am an ex abhyasi, I am following your blog for many years now. It did help me to detach from the srcm easily. Whereas this article in particular doesn't have any evidence to say srcm is associated with any of the Hindu organizations you have listed, contrary to this if any of these organizations came to know about philosophy of scrm, they will start criticizing it as the method is mostly of sufi origin.
I do not follow any religion as of now.

Hi ex-abhyasi...

I presented the evidence given to me by "Alexis" who wrote the original article in French, and then posted it on Élodie's blog in Europe ...

Now you may say that you don't acccept the evidence presented by Alexis, and tell us why, but you can't say I did not present any "evidence"... His (Alexis') "evidence" is the News Minute article of Dec. 22, 2014. And he gives excerpts of the article as well as a "link" in "hypertext" which is in a different colour; you can click on it and read it for yourself ... Then you can discuss that "evidence" if you wish ... If it is not credible, then tell us why...

I (and all the readers and researchers, Journalists, columnists, etc...) appreciate your input ...

I searched extensively ober the internet and nowhere found the mention of srcm in any articles published on recent reconversion of christians and muslims to hinduism that made headlines, except in newsminute. It may be a typo because there are other organization which start with shri ram and are more alighned with hindhu nationalism. I am not supporting srcm at all but why spreading a news which doesn't have any credibility? I may be wrong here but i know about srcm, the practice or people there never exhibited anything even close to hindu nationalist beliefs. Trust me.

Hi anonymous...

Thanks for your input ... But a site (with a reporting staff) reported on SRCM (they mentioned the societies by name) so we can report on that ... we did not invent it or make it up ... and we show the evidence...

Whether the allegation is true or not, is up for all to decide ... but the statement was mentioned and we report it as such with "hypertext" for all to verify...

Any organization can change over time, specially when new leadership takes over (as is the case with SRCM), and the past does not prevent a society form becoming something else in TIME ...

So all take heed ... If some new info comes to us, we will include it ...

See the paragraph in this article on "India the Invincible",

The mention of anyone's name in a news article neither makes its an evidence nor it acts as a truth, hope you agree on this as what brought us here is the search of truth.
I fully agree with your view "We need EARTH THE TENDER, not the INDIA, the "INVINCIBLE". That false concept ("invincible") creates a POWER symbol and alludes to an "enemy"".
The more damge being done here to make india invincible is not by organizations like srcm but there are others whose face is open wide and clear.

Hi Anonymous...

That a news organization ( NEWS MINUTE, an organization with a staff of reporters) "mention(s) of anyone's name (SRCM) in a news article neither makes its an evidence" does in fact make it "evidence" ... In other words, we the "bloggers" did not make this up and those are not our words or our statements ... Our evidence is the "LINK" to NEWS Minute and to the specific article ...

But you are accurate when you say ... "nor does it make it the truth", and I agree with you and repeat that all should read with caution until they have it confirmed by some other source also...

And, that article I sent you (see link above) is one such source from an activity of SRCM themselves at their school (OMEGA), and it confirms the "nationalism" (over the "Universalism") of the NEW SRCM since Chari created his own SRCM (California-1997) and registered it in San Luis Obispo, California, in 1997, (after the death of Babuji) ...

Thanks for your well thought-out comments ... We appreciate the efforts and input of true "SEARCHERS" (sojourners?) for the truth ... like yourself.

Be in Peace...

Hi Anonymous...

If you can get Kamlesh D. Patel, the President of SRCM, to make a statement regarding this article, its contents, and/or the mentioned three (3) affiliated organizations who were allegedly involved in the "conversions", we will add that to the body of the article (as well as in the comments section)

You may even get the "NEWS MINUTE" group to print a retraction or a "correction" ...

The truth will set us free...

Thanks ...

This is FYI..
Dear Don....pls don't bother with any reply... Just sharing the perspective from the so called other side for general audience...

Hi Anonymous...

If you are simply an abhyasi (a serf), they "SRCM Board of Directors" would not tell you what they do ... this group of businessmen are not "forthcoming" with their involvement in "the world" in the name of Sahaj Marg.

Judging by the large number of "hits" who come to our site for information, (such as the many hundreds who "hit" my site when Chari died) I am not surprised that you don't know about what SRCM Board of Directions does in your name. ..

More credit to the "alternate" news outlets who cover such stories... and to the many blogs in different languages which have sprung up around the world, who expose such spiritualist "cults of a PERSON" and their societal involvements...

Thanks for your input...
